Important Questions

HOW DO I MEASURE MY WRIST FOR THE CORRECT SIZE?

It is very important to measure your wrist correctly to avoid re-stringing fees.

Use a soft tape measure at the base of your wrist. Once you have this measurement add 1/2" to this and you will have your bracelet size. You can make a note on the ordering form is there is a different size (smaller or larger) that you would like KIT to make your custom bracelet design.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU’RE BRACELET DOESN’T FIT OR BREAKS?

Because your bracelet is a custom order and if it is not the correct size due to KIT’s error she will re-string your bracelet one time for free. If you made the error in measuring, the charges will be billable plus the cost of shipping. KIT’s fee to re-string a bracelet is $10.00 per strand plus the cost of shipping ($6.00 USPS).

DO YOU ALWAYS USE THE SAME BEADS IN YOUR BRACELET DESIGNS?

Please allow for substitutions/variations of comparable Sterling Silver Beads as sometimes the Bali Sterling Silver Beads shown may not be available. If this is the case KIT will e-mail you to let you know before designing your custom bracelet. KIT uses Bali Sterling Silver Beads as well as Sterling Silver 4.5 mini letters in her Mother~Grandmother Bracelets and Bali Sterling Silver Beads in her Birthstone Bracelets. The mini letters are what adds the class to your Mother~Grandmother Bracelet and of course your choice of Swarovski® crystals will give it the sparkle to add to the beauty of your special bracelet.

WHAT KIND OF CLASP DO YOU USE IN YOUR BRACELET DESIGNS?

KIT USES THE BEST BALI STERLING SILVER BOX CLASPS WITH A LOCKING MECHANISM AND SAFETY CATCHES in all KIT's BRACELET DESIGNS.

THESE BALI STERLING SILVER BOX CLASPS MAKES KIT's CREATIONS STAND OUT FROM OTHER DESIGNERS! (SEE HOME PAGE-FLASH PICTURES)

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY BRACELET?

I suggest that you do not wear your jewelry while cleaning the house, swimming or doing any physical activity as your jewelry designs are very delicate.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY STERLING SILVER BEADS?

Remember silver is a very soft metal and you can scratch it if you aren't careful so don't rub it too harshly. To clean your sterling silver jewelry I suggest using a Sunshine Polishing Cloth and gently rub off any excess makeup. Order your Sunshine ® Polishing Cloth here. .Price is $6.00.

HOW DO I STORE MY STERLING SILVER JEWELRY?

Store your bracelet in an airtight plastics zip lock bag. This will help prevent some tarnishing. Remember sterling silver is meant to be worn and your body oils also help prevent tarnishing.

Excessive tarnish…..

Do not use liquid jewelry cleaner on your jewelry. To clean away excessive tarnish, clean your sterling with a soft cloth. You may also use a nonabrasive brand name paste silver polish to remove excessive tarnish. A silver cloth is the best way to remove tarnish from jewelry. Be sure the item to be cleaned is free from dust and other abrasives. Note: Liquid silver cleaner will remove the black (tarnish) coloring from the letter blocks and may discolor the beads.

Never use a silver polishing cloth on your Swarovski® crystal beads. You can use a soft cloth to go over your crystal beads to keep them shinning and bright. You should never soak your jewelry in water as this will eat away at your stainless steel wire and make it weak.

HOW DO I ADD A NAME TO MY BRACELET?

To add a name to your bracelet the cost will be the single strand cost of $75.00. This includes the new Bali 9.25 Sterling Silver Safety Clasp. KIT uses the best Bali .925 Sterling Silver Safety Clasps. Genuine Swarovski® Crystal Beads are used in all KIT’s bracelet designs.

CAN I GET A REFUND IF I AM UNHAPPY WITH MY BRACELET?

Your bracelet is a Custom Order. All sales are final.

WHAT IS THE DELIVERY TIME FOR MY BRACELET?

Your bracelet is a custom order and will be mailed 2 weeks from your order date.

WHAT IS DICHORIC GLASS?

This is a high tech spin-off from the space industry. Dichoric meaning that you have the property of more than one color especially when viewed from different angles or transmitted to reflect light. Dichoric coated glass is produced by a process called "thin film physics and is generally referred to as a color operative to get the effect of thin layers of matallic oxides, such as titanium, silicon and magnesium that are deposited upon the surface of the glass in high temperatures and in a vaccum furnace. You see that these designs take on many different patterns, colors, and textures and when you have the final result.....a beautifully unique design has evolved. WHAT IS SEA GLASS?

Sea glass also known as beach glass, mermaid's tears, lucky tears, and many other names is glass found on beaches along oceans or large lakes that has been tumbled and smoothed by the water and sand, creating small pieces of smooth, frosted glass.

Sea glass is one of the very few cases of a valuable item being created from the actions of the enviornment on man-made litter.

The color of sea glass is determined by its original source. Most sea glass comes from bottles, but it can also come from jars, plates, windows, windshields, glasses, art, flasks, containers, and any other glass source that has found its way into the ocean. Some collectors also collect sea pottery.

The most common colors of sea glass are kelly green, brown, and clear. These colors come from bottles used by companies that sell beer, juices, and soft drinks. The clear or white glass comes from clear plates and glasses, windshields, windows, and assorted other sources. A piece of red sea glass, is one of the rarest colors and cobalt blue glass, is one of the rarer colors.

Less common colors include jade, amber (from bottles for whiskey, medicine, spirits, and early bleach bottles), golden amber (mostly used for spirit bottles), lime green (from soda bottles during the 1960s), forest green, and soft blue (from soda bottles, medicine bottles, ink bottles, and fruit jars from the late 1800s and early 1900s, windows, and windshields.) These colors are found about once for every 25 to 100 pieces of sea glass found.

Uncommon colors of sea glass include green, which comes primarily from early to mid-1900s Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, and RC Cola bottles, as well as beer bottles. Soft green colors could come from bottles that were used for ink, fruit, and baking soda. These colors are found once in every 50 to 100 pieces.

Purple sea glass is very uncommon, as is citron, opaque white (from milk glass), cobalt and cornflower blue (from early Milk of Magnesia bottles, poison bottles, artwork, and Bromo-Seltzer and Vicks VapoRub containers), and aqua (from Ball Mason jars and 19th century glass bottles.) These colors are found once for every 200 to 1,000 pieces found.

Rare and extremely rare colors include gray, pink (often from Great Depression era plates), teal (often from Mateus wine bottles), black (older, very dark olive green glass), yellow (often from 1930s Vaseline containers), turquoise (from tableware and art glass), red (often from nautical lights, found once in every 5,000 pieces), and orange (the least common type of sea glass, found once in 10,000 pieces.) These colors are found once for every 1,000 to 10,000 pieces collected. Some of the black glass is quite old, originating from thick eighteenth-century gin, beer and wine bottles.

Like gathering shells or stones, collecting sea glass is a hobby among beach-goers and beachcombers, and many enjoy filling decorative jars or making jewelry from their finds. Hobbyists both enjoy searching for and collecting sea glass, as well as identifying its original origins.

Sea glass can be found all over the world, but the beaches of the Northeast United States, Mexico,Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Maine, Nova Scotia, The Chesapeake Bay, California, and Southern Spain are famous for sea glass. The best times to look are during spring tides and perigean and proxigean tides, and during the first low tide after a storm.

Beach glass, as it is called on inland lakes, such as the Great Lakes, is similar to sea glass. However, this glass is weathered by sand and tidal action and not by the saline waters where sea glass is found.
